0n16.5/0n30 ![]() Minera Timber Company This was a 5' x 2' baseboard that was part of a larger On16.5 exhibition layout, that was originally exhibited in North Wales, many years ago. I acquired that layout and decided to use this section, much modified, as the main board for "The Minera Timber Company" - a timber processing factory (sawmill) to which raw timber is delivered and sawn wood is sent on its way. This has the operational ability to see trains of timber arrive and be shunted into the sawmill. After a while, wagons of sawn timber can be collected, along with (covered) trucks with sawdust and tree debris. The trains can be unloaded out of sight of the public and empty wagons removed by the Company's diesel, before empty wagons are moved into the sawmill to have the sawn timber loaded, again out of sight. There is the opportunity to use sound effects of timber being sawn, etc. Equipment trains (new saw blades, oil/diesel deliveries, food and workmen, etc) and workers' trains can also be featured. The main sawmill building will be scratchbuilt from plasticard and wood. |
