Tramway de Gare Tigre
Originally "Pampas and Fernandez Consolidated Railway", built by Bob Hughes, it has been extended, keeping all the original buildings, to fit two 3'6" boards.
I have relocated the layout in French Guiana (inland from the north eastern coast of South America and west of Brazil), which was the only South American country I could find that was French owned.
Apparently, there was a railway from Gare Tigre to Saint Elie, although I have been unable to find any further details on the internet.
It has allowed me to use up my some of my French vehicles from my abandoned French tramway, along with some French 'characters'.
The country had reserves of gold and bauxite, along with timber products, so they will form the basis of freight traffic, along with workers' trains. The French also used Guiana as a penal colony - the infamous Devil's Island is just off the coast - as featured in the film 'Papillon'.
I exhibitied this at Crewe Heritage Centre on 28th/29th May 2011, as part of their Model and Miniature Railway Weekend over the Bank Holiday 28th-30th May 2011
Like most layouts, this is undergoing continual upgrading and will be having another fiddle yard at the other end soon.
Current overall dimensions are 7 foot by 1 foot and it is available for exhibition.
